If you have a latest windows version(8 or more), you can enjoy using this quick shortcut to shut down your PC. However, this shortcut works only with windows 8 and other newer versions of Windows.(That is, it wont work with windows 7 or Vista or earlier windows versions). Note: Pressing the above key combinations will shut down your PC. One such Combination that you can use to shut down your PC is – You can use a particular combination of keys to shut down your PC. Note: that by default the Alt + F4 is intended to shut down your Windows PC, however, by changing the preference from the dropdown menu, you can use this feature to restart / sleep your system. If you want to Restart / sleep your PC, you can select the option from the drop-down menu on the prompt as per your need and then hit the Enter key(or press OK on the prompt).
Press Alt + F4 to open a prompt asking you to shut down your PC. When all the active programs are closed, and you are about to shut down your Windows PC, do the following – Other than closing the currently active program(Without any warning!), the shortcut key Alt + F4 can also help you shut down / restart / sleep your Windows PC. Using the Old but Gold Alt + F4 shortcut key: NOTE: The action and time options are the same when running on battery as they are for when the computer is plugged in.Here are some ways using which you can shut down your Windows PC – 1. Click the down arrow in the box under Set the keyboard backlight action when running on battery and click to select the desired action. If the Turn on in low light conditions option was selected, you will also have the opportunity to select a length of time until backlight turns off when there is no keyboard activity:. In the Keyboard and Mouse screen, under Keyboard Backlight, click the down arrow in the box under Set the keyboard backlight action when plugged in and click to select the desired action. In the VAIO Control Center window, click Keyboard and Mouse. In the Search screen, in the Search field type VAIO Control Center, and then click the VAIO Control Center icon. NOTE: The Windows Logo + Q key combination will also take you to the Search screen. 
Point to (but do not click) the lower-right or top-right corner of the screen, and then click to select the Search charm. To see if your computer has it, consult the Marketing Specifications or Users Guide. 
Not all Sony computers are equipped with this feature. IMPORTANT: In order to use this procedure your computer must have the Backlit Keyboard feature.
